Ralph's Positive Hour

until Mon 9th Jan'06: Ralph's Positive Hour with
Ian Ralls, Friends of the Earth: "The State of the Environment in Cambridge"

on www.209radio.co.uk. We talk about simple things, where YOU can make a difference, like:
  • "if every household in Britain would replace their main light bulb with an energy saving light bulb, we would save as much energy as a nuclear power station produces!"
  • "The Walking Bus" for school children
  • The "Sahara washing up technique", saving water + energy
And more, like: transport in the city, nature & trees in Cambridge, the current state of recycling in the city, a potential waste incinerator in the region (dioxins!), waste reduction, climate change, the coming cold winter...
Friends of the Earth: get involved! The environment needs you!

Thu 12 Jan.'06: "Enlightenment or the Oneness State" - with 4 enlightened teachers and facilitators, 7:30pm

Enlightenment or the Oneness State is a gift bestowed upon you by Nature, Life, Universal Consciousness, God. Oneness means: to get the ‘filter’ permanently removed between you and Reality, you and the divine source.
Are you ready to receive it?

Cecil, Bruhn, Liliana & Claes received the enlightened state of consciousness in India recently. Hear about revolutionary results due to a phenomenon called Deeksha, a transfer of a divine energy received from two enlightenment avatars, Bhagavan and Amma from the Golden City, India. Cecil & Bruhn come from Denmark and Liliana & Claes Hackner from Warminster. They are channels of this enlightenment energy. The energy catalyses the process of enlightenment so that the recipient will permanently enter the state within hours, days, weeks and maximum 7 years.

Everyone is welcome - Buddhists, Christians, Hindus, Muslims, Jews, atheists...... This is not a sectarian thing - the deeksha will only make you wake up to Life - being lived from your heart. Your own path will open up to you - for real.
Donation: only £10 - Read more

Sun 15 Jan '06: Inter-Faith visit to a Quaker Meeting, 10:20am

Today the Inter-Faith Group Cambridge (www.cam.net.uk/home/interfaith/) will visit the Jesus Lane Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends ("Quakers") for a Sunday Morning Meeting: we will sit in silence and listen to the still small voice of God for one hour. Sometimes, when somebody is inspired, he or she will stand up and speak out their ministry. There are no religious symbols or preaching ministers. All Quaker meetings are open to visitors. If you are new, you may like to come a few minutes earlier. Please be quiet in the hall and Please be there BEFORE 10:30am
The meeting will last one hour and is followed by drinks downstairs. At 12noon is an opportunity to join in singing "Quaker Songs" upstairs and at 12:30 we are invited to join a bring & share lunch.

Fri 20 Jan: "TRADING FAITH: GLOBAL RELIGION IN AN AGE OF RAPID CHANGE" - OPEN FORUM: SERIES OF SPECIAL INTER-FAITH DISCUSSIONS IN U.K., 8 pm

To start the New Year, with a global perspective, you are warmly invited to participate in an OPEN FORUM.
SPEAKERS:
  • DR. David Ananda Hart, Senior Lecturer Coast to Coast Immigration Consultancy Services Ltd, MUMBAI, Maharastra (India)
  • Deepak A. L. Moses, Lecturer in Religious Studies, Sathya Veda Seminary Thiruvananthapuram (India) and The University of Derby (U.K)

In an age of terrorism and increasing Christian/Muslim conflict it's time for a new look at how differing religions can be reconciled, and contribute to the peace of the world rather than its destruction. The answer can be found in the similarity of the philosophical traditions at the heart of each, rather than in the particular dogmas and doctrines that divide. In Trading Faith, David Hart here leapfrogs the usual interfaith questions, the more mundane analysis by social commentators and politicians, and provides a new, coherent vision of religious philosophy for the 21st century.

David A. Hart is an Anglican priest living and working in South India. He is India Secretary of the World Congress of Faiths and author of four books: Faith in Doubt: Non-Realism and Christian Belief (Mowbray 1993), One Faith? Non-Realism and the World of Faiths (Mowbray 1995), Linking Up: Christianity and Sexuality(Arthur James 1997), Multi-Faith Britain: An Experiment in Worship (O Books 2002). He has also co-edited Time and Tide: Sea of Faith Beyond the Millennium (O Books 2001), and has contributed chapters to The Study of Spirituality (SPCK 1986), Marginality and Dissent (Macmillan 1997) and God and Reality: Essays in Christian Non-Realism, with a Preface by Archbishop Rowan Williams (Mowbray 1997).
Trading Faith: Global Religion in an Age of Rapid Change (O Books, coming June 2006)

David will speak of his experience in shifting to India last summer and how he has met and been encouraged by many popular religious leaders in South India, such as Amma and Sri Sri Ravishankar.
He will argue that the current Western model of inter-faith dialogue fails because the underlying political vocabulary remains one of confrontation.

Fri 27th Jan: "Who or what is God?" - an Inter-Faith discussion, 7:45 for 8pm

The Cambridge Inter-Faith Group (www.cam.net.uk/home/interfaith/) invites: tonight we'll repeat a very inspiring discussion we had in January 2000.
We ask members of all faith groups, traditional religions as well as new spiritual movements, to come and share their views on this theme in an open discussion.
Can it be compared to 6 seekers in the dark, each touching the ear, the tail, the legs, the trunk, the teeth and the belly of an elephant - and then sharing their experiences? By putting all together, we might get a glimpse of the whole.
Or are we like 2-dimensional beings, discussing what the 3rd dimension might be like, but are unable to get the idea?
In any case: an excellent opportunity to listen and understand other faiths - and widen our horizon.

Sat 25 Feb: Dance Party at Greens, from 8pm - midnight

    web site: www.endorphinhigh.com
We're a group of friends who like dancing and think Cambridge needs an alternative to clubs and pubs - lots of people have said they agree, so we decided to do-it-ourselves and organise bops from time to time. The one last October was fantastic - over 70 people danced in an impressive range of styles (from classic rock, ceroc & lindyhop to totally freeform) in pairs, groups and on their own, to a great variety of music (mainly pop/rock 50s-05s with some blues, reggae, latin etc thrown in), and we got loads of great feedback.
    The bar closes 11pm.
I'd like to get a rough idea of numbers so PLEASE LET ME KNOW if you are planning on coming and how many.

The venue is smoke free, people who can't survive without a puff will have to go outside. Entry charge: £5 (£3 concessionary)

    Tue 25th April: start 5-week Course: "Stress - Some Quick-fix Solutions!", 7:30pm

Simple & rapid holistic solutions to living or working under pressure - with Dr. Mike Meredith.
Learn how to move quickly from negativity, overactive mind, anxiety, worry or emotional distress to a state of emotional positivity and mental ease - a skilful state for decision-making or handling problems, a condition where the mind is calm and you feel relaxed and at ease with life. After a hectic, stressful day, or a heated argument, or a personal loss or failure, or a setback to our dreams we often find that we are miserable, tense, agitated or weary and it is all too easy to fall into "comfort eating", "comfort drinking", drug-dependency (medicinal or recreational) or "couch potato" lifestyle to ease our suffering. Unfortunately, over a period of time, these short-term fixes can end up adding to our problems instead of reducing them.

In this course, stress consultant and physiologist, Dr. Mike Meredith will show you simple holistic techniques that can empower you to "bounce back" from suffering or dependency and free you from the demons of self-sabotaging behaviour. We will be practising tried and tested holistic (working with mind, body, spirit and emotions) techniques to relieve uncomfortable feelings and move us towards a more harmonious, integrated and skilful state of being..

Thu 27th April: "Shamanic Healing Skills for the 21st Century" - start 5-week Course with Dr. Mike Meredith

Shamanic Healing is the world's most adaptable system of healing - over the millennia, and in different cultures and religions, it has undergone many evolutions and adaptations. The prophets, saints and sages of all the world's great religions were all shamans of differing hues. Shamanic Healing evolves to suit the needs of each era and culture of the human race, but the essence of Shamanic Healing remains the same - a movement towards increased harmony with, and internal integration of, "earth nature" and "the Divine" ("God", "Deities" or "Spirit world").

The 3 key Shamanic principles are:
    - Universal connectedness of all living beings
-The sacredness and honouring of all life and of our planet
-Living in harmony with internal & external manifestations of nature and with internal & external manifestations of the Divine (God,Great Spirit,Allah,Gaia, nature spirits, angels, ancestors etc)

In this series of workshops devoted to both self-healing and the healing of others, we will be adapting ancient techniques of shamanic healing to our 21st century information-age, stress-prone lifestyle, integrating the best of ancient natural healing wisdom with the best of modern psychotherapeutic and holistic lifestyle skills.

Shamanic Healing techniques are a key to enhanced personal wholeness and a free-flowing, natural and skilful lifestyle, guided by divine wisdom and sacred practices such as meditation, prayer, laying-on of hands, shrines, rituals, sharing connection, sacred movement, voice and breathwork.
When giving healing support to others we need to know how to protect ourselves from taking on their destructive energies, how to clear any "bad vibes" we have picked up, and how to replenish ourselves. No prior experience required, suitable for folks of any religious or spiritual persuasion, or none.
    Cost: £37 (£27.75 concessions)

Sat 13 May: Intuitive Skills Development - 1 Day Workshop,11am-4pm

Are you tuned into your natural human "6th sense" instinct of intuition? How often do you use it? Do you trust it implicitly, or do you run the occasional "checks and balances"? In this entertaining workshop, led by Dr. Michael Meredith, based partly on the scientific research of Dr. Rupert Sheldrake you can learn a variety of simple, magical and enjoyable techniques to increase your skill to tune into the natural intuitive gift of "gut feeling".

Empowered intuition helps us to navigate better the potentially stressful situations that arise at home or at work. We can become more in tune with how people feel and what they really "need", as opposed to what they say they "want". Intuition is especially important in "novel" social or work situations, where we lack experience, or feel "like a fish out of water". Intuitive skills are especially magnificent in situations where people are seeking to exploit, manipulate, deceive, con or pressurise us into falling in with their personal agenda rather than looking after our own best interests. Intuition is also a key ingredient in enhancing emotional or physical intimacy. We will be including some Psycho-intuitive Hand-reading and some simple (clothes-on!) Intuitive Massage & Intuitive Stress Relief

Sat 9 Sept: STOURBRIDGE FAIR, Midday till 4pm

The Third Annual Recreation of Stourbridge Fair, organised by the Friends of the Leper Chapel and the Cambridge Preservation Society, will be held in the grounds of the Leper Chapel, Newmarket Road (at Barnwell Junction) on Saturday 9 September. The Mayor with the Town Crier in attendance will open the Fair at noon and it will continue until 4pm.

The original Stourbridge Fair was one of the largest in Europe and it attracted merchants and visitors from Britain and overseas, selling and buying a variety of goods including silk, wool, garlic, hops and cheese. Many of the commodities that were sold live on in the names of the surrounding streets - Garlic Row, Oyster Row, Mercers Row and Cheddars Lane.
Our Fair is more modest but just as exciting! There will be stalls selling cheese, apple juice, garlic, cakes, honey and beeswax and entertainments including children’s games, the Capriol Mediaval Dancers, story telling and living history talks. We will also have our own Alchemist and Medieval Peddlars as well as a bookstall and a stall run by the Cambridge Preservation Society, who own and care for the Chapel.

Any money raised at the Fair will go towards the construction of easier access to the Chapel for our less able visitors and for the installation of facilities that will make the Chapel an even more attractive venue for events and exhibitions.

Come and join us on the 9th for all the fun of the Fair but please remember that there is no parking at the Chapel. So come on foot or by bicycle or, if you do bring your car, parking is usually available in the surrounding streets.

    Sat 9 Sept. LONDON: 5th Anniversary of September 11th - an inter-faith presentation, 7pm

    False witness dishonours the dead.
An Open Invitation to Members of the Abrahamic Faiths to attend a presentation by distinguished Interfaith philosopher, Prof David Ray Griffin, raising disturbing questions about the official story of 9/11.

Dear Friends, Shalom Aleichem! Slaama! Salaam Alaykum! Peace be with you!
Please may we invite you to join us at a major public meeting at the Conway Hall in Red Lion Sq, Central London on the evening of Saturday 9th Sept to reflect on what is true and what is or may be false concerning the terrible human tragedy that was 9/11, and thereby to help replace the Clash of Civilisations framework in which it is too often seen with one of Interfaith Co-operation in the struggle for a truthful, peaceful world.

For 9/11 has mushroomed into the centre of a nationalistic and self-righteous civic cult, the founding myth of a War on Terror. This pivotal initiatory event into a new post-911 world requires, so we are assured, heightened security alerts, draconian legislation and repeated invasions and threats against oil-rich and/or Muslim lands.

Yet, strangely, for all its importance, 9/11 does not apparently require critical analysis of the facts alleged to have taken place! The 9/11 Commission was packed with insiders and ignored every kind of evidence which ran counter to the official story (firefighter and office-worker accounts of explosions, physics of building collapse * and mobile phone performance from airplanes, lack of CCTV and flight recorder evidence, foreknowledge clearly reflected in supposedly untraceable stock-market put options, etc)

Despite the modern self image of the West as being capable of responding to reason and evidence, those who question the official story of 911 are often ridiculed as conspiracy theorists and dismissed out of hand - as if creating phoney events to throw blame on minorities and provide an excuse for war and dictatorship is something that no government in human history has ever perpetrated!

In late nineteenth century and early twentieth century Germany many strains of ancient anti-semitism were revived and modernised. But the Protocols of the Elders of Zion were police forgeries. Today ancient crusading stereotypes are being whipped up and each one of us needs to consider carefully whether some, perhaps many, of the big Terror attacks, are not likewise forged events (often coupled with forged videos).

Few people are as well qualified as Interfaith philosopher and theologian Prof David Ray Griffin, to calmly guide us to a new understanding of 9/11, not just the historical and scientific details, but sociological issues concerning conspiracy and social theory and the philosophical issues surrounding alternative hypotheses, probability and proof. These qualifications he amply demonstrated in his best-selling books, The New Pearl Harbour and The 9/11 Commission Report: Omissions and Distortions. In his latest book, Christian Faith and the Truth Behind 9/11: A Call to Reflection and Action, Prof Griffin combines these earlier qualities with pastoral sensitivity and a moving but unstrident call to prophetic wrestling with this issue worthy of a Bishop George Bell, a Dietrich Bonhoeffer or a Desmond Tutu. (It is published by Westminster John Knox Press, July 2006, ISBN 0664231179).

All these and other books and dvds will be on sale at the event (doors open 6.45, starts at 7.30) which promises to attract significant media attention.
Tickets cost £7.50 (£5 concs) or £10 (£7.50) if booked after Aug 15th, and can be booked using our ticket hotline 0845 108 1736, or online at www.911truthtotnes.com (from which posters will also be downloadable). For those faith practitioners who would like to sit together (and many may prefer to sit in among the rest of the audience) we are reserving up to 70 seats, so please let us know when you book.

It promises to be a tremendous occasion! Meanwhile, if you would like to help publicise this event, please do pass on a copy of this invitation to whoever you think can benefit or pass the word (e.g. faith-based newspapers). You may also care to prepare by studying the fine essays on the website of Scholars for 911 Truth, which David co-founded: www.st911.org .

We began this letter by invoking Peace. May we draw to a close by quoting the Russian Orthodox Christian and anti-Soviet resister, Alexander Solzhenitsyn:
Violence can only be concealed by a lie, and the lie can only be maintained by violence.
IF 9/11 is a lie, or even if it may be a lie, it matters! Surely such a momentous question deserves the personal attention of us all. And if in fact 9/11 was Operation False Witness, then all of us who oppose racism, war and authoritarianism must work together to expose this mythic Blood-libel at the heart of the War on Terror, before evermore human rights abuses and further rounds of violence are unleashed, e.g. against Syria and Iran.

    Yours Sincerely,
Angela McBride European representative of Muslims, Jews, Christians Alliance for 911 Truth; www.mujca.com
AbdulWahid Hamid author of Islam the Natural Way

Sat 23 Sept.: Worldwide Didgeridoo Meditation at local sunset

Together we can make the earth sing...
We wish to invite you to participate in the next Worldwide Didgeridoo Meditation during the equinox on 23 September 2006.
This is a worldwide link-up of people supporting environmental and personal awareness. We ask all participants to play or listen to meditative music (preferably including didgeridoos) for 45 minutes and then to sit silently for 15 minutes. The meditation starts at local sunset time, which will have the effect of all of us together creating a wave of sound and silence surrounding the planet following the sunset.
The more people participate in different countries, the stronger this effect is going to be. So please support this event with your participation and please spread the word about it to your friends. The more the merrier :-)
Please see www.didjshop.com/shop1/didgeridoo_meditation.html for more information on the vision and intent of this regular event.
Please let us know by return email where in the world you will participate (please email your name, town and country). ''Enlightenment'', ''blessings'', ''peace'', ''happiness'' or an experience of the Divine?

The Good News is that what you are searching for can only be bestowed, it can never be earnt.
Please join me for an evening of sharing, meditation and Deeksha.
Deeksha is a transfer of divine energy designed to bring about the state of Oneness and flowering of the heart in the recipient. This energy has been brought to the world by the grace of the avatars Amma and Bhagavan. (www.onenessuniversity.co.uk)
Deeksha initiates a neurobiological change in the brain that when completed enables the senses to be free from the interference of the mind. When the senses are unclouded by the mind’s interpretations, a natural clarity of perception occurs with accompanying spontaneous feelings of joy, inner calmness and connection to the Oneness in everything.

    Sat 21 Oct: "Meeting in Not-Knowing" with Unmani, 2 - 5pm

Seeking is such a dramatic game that Life plays with itself. Seeking to fill that empty hole in 'my life' which seems so painful. Seeking for some kind of permanent security or satisfaction. Hoping that 'one day I will find what I'm looking for'. Whatever is, right now, never seems to be enough.
This is the end of hope. The end of seeking. The end of the assumption that there is a 'someone' who can find something. This is the end of pretending to look for that which has never been anywhere but right here. Nothing to look for, nothing to find. The end of pretending to know or trying to know. This is absolute not-knowing. Forever falling in absolute insecurity. This is what I am.
I am what you are. Life itself. This is the expression of Life, directly as it is.

Thu 16 Nov.'06: Releasing Past Life Karma, 6:30 to 9:45pm

Most work on releasing the influences of past lives focuses on the recall of dramatic events. In reality, what is most important is neither recall nor working with dramatic episodes but the energetic release of the samskara - a Sanskrit term meaning the limiting influences on our thoughts, feelings and actions built up through many past lives. This course gives you a comprehensive system for working with your samskara as they are ready to release. £50.

This is going to be the last Green Forum of the year (the next one will probably be late Jan) so I'd like to encourage people to come along if they can make it to ensure it's future success - particualrly if you have ideas for the kind of thing you'd like to see the Green Forum get up to.

The Dances of Universal Peace are a form of meditation through sacred sounds and devotional movements.
The feeling of chanting simple, sacred phrases with devotion in English, Greek, Latin, Aramaic, Hebrew, Arabic, Sanskrit and many other languages gives, especially when combined with movement, an immediate, accessible feeling for another tradition. More about the Peace Dances
